Walking on the Veluwe? These are the most beautiful hiking trails

Do you feel like taking a nice walk? Then go hiking in the Veluwe. This is downright fantastic! Not for nothing is the Veluwe known as one of the most beautiful hiking areas in the Netherlands. You will find vast forests, sandy plains and moors and several nature parks. If you are very quiet, you can even spot wildlife. We have selected the most beautiful hiking trails in the Veluwe for you which guarantee hours of hiking fun!

Walking route 1: Walking route Vrijenberg along Loenen Waterfall

The walk along the Loenen waterfall (4.5 km) starts at care farm the Groote Modderkolk. The walking route is varied. You walk through the forest, the waterfall and past the cows in the meadow. Fact: the Loenen waterfall is the highest waterfall in the Netherlands! In the yard of the care farm you can take a look at the animals, buy products in the farm store and drink tea while enjoying homemade cake.

Hiking route 2: Hiking route Miggelenberg – Het Leesten

This varied walking route on the Veluwe takes you from park Landal Miggelenberg to transfer station Het Leesten in Ugchelen and back. During this walking route you walk on wide forest paths but also on some nice, narrow, less beloping trails. There are also several bridle paths. These quadrupeds you will undoubtedly encounter. Most of this trail is flat but there are also a few spicier sections. Go and enjoy!

Walking route 3: Walking route along the moorland hills near the Posbank

Want to be truly enchanted by the beauty of nature? Then walking route Veluwezoom-Posbank near Arnhem is a must. Are you not yet an advanced hiker? Then this walking route is also suitable for you. After all, the route is about five kilometers long. Enjoy the enchanting views and discover the famous heath hills at the Posbank! Nice detail: the forester of Veluwezoom has mapped out this route along the most beautiful spots.

Hiking route 4: Hiking route around Spankeren

This walking route on the Veluwe together with the ommetje Laag-Soeren forms a walk along the Soerense Beek from source to IJssel. The connection is formed by a walk along the Broekdijk through the Soerense Broek. You walk the route from the village center to the Soerense Beek, which in Spankeren is called the Assenbeek. The Soerense Beek rises at the sprengkoppen and -beken in Laag-Soeren. Sprengkoppen and brooks were dug to use the water from the Veluwe, which rises to the surface at the Veluwezoom, to generate energy. Now you know that again!

Walking route 5: Walk along the castles in Wageningen

Are you also such a fan of castles? Then don’t miss this walking route. During this walking route you will discover royal castles in remote and quiet locations. The route runs through the Veluwezoom in Wageningen. This is an area known for its many breathtaking castles. Hiking trails in the Veluwe that lead you past castles are therefore plentiful.
