Beekbergen is a village and former municipality in the municipality of Apeldoorn with approximately 4500 inhabitants, of whom three fifth live in the heart of the village. The village is situated on the edge of the Veluwe and is dominated by forests in the southwest and farmland in the northeast.
Centrally located by the core of Beekbergen is the Dorpstraat, where most of the shops and restaurants are located. Near this street is the Reformed Church, which dates back to the 15th century, with its associated parsonage. The predecessor of this church was built in the 11th century and has ensured the origin of Beekbergen in this century. This Dutch Reformed Church and its tower are registered as a national monument together with (service) dwellings and two grave hills. There is also a church of the Reformed Church of Beekbergen, the Eben-Haëzerkerk, whose building dates from 1960.
In the meantime, Beekbergen receives many domestic tourists, partly by the ANWB, which made walking and cycling paths and allowed roadmap. The choice in landscapes varies from forests, to fields and heaths in the vicinity of Beekbergen. In addition, the creation of the Veluwsche Steam Train Company, which operated from Station Beekbergen, in 1975 led to the growth of tourism. This also applies to the Veluwse Evening Market, which was established around the same time and is organized weekly in the summer months.
In the village is the Ruitersmolen, where the A-Ford Museum can be found nearby. But in Beekbergen, the modeling gardens of the Highlands and the smallest Dutch war museum are also worth the effort. For further entertainment, bicycle distance attractions such as Palace Het Loo, Apenheul and Julianatoren can be found.
